Ami Maes grew up in the Roaring Fork Valley and has been instructing visual arts in Carbondale at the middle school level since 1999. She is the Founder and Creative Director of HANDMAKERY: A Children’s Art Studio focused on inspiring, expressing, and creating art with children. She has instructed workshops at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, The Art Base, Aspen Art Museum, ACES and throughout the Roaring Fork Valley over the last 20 years. She is the recipient of the Mary Ellen Nix Excellence in Art Teaching Award through the Aspen Art Museum. In her free time, Ami enjoys hiking, snowboarding, camping + adventures, making + creating, photography, kid art blogging and time with family and friends!
